01 · The human purpose
Learning to understand, decide and act
SERAS stands for Sistema Educativo de Reflexión, Aprendizaje y Superación: an Educational System for Reflection, Learning and Self-Improvement. Its purpose is to help people think, decide and act with freedom, responsibility and a sense of purpose.
The document proposes restoring the connection between values, knowledge, critical awareness and action. Education is understood as a process of personal development and participation in society: it includes understanding one's context, questioning assumptions and shaping a life project.
Intellectual autonomy is central. Reflection, dialogue and practice aim to develop independent judgment. In an environment with artificial intelligence, this means learning to use available support to understand more, critically review what it provides and take responsibility for decisions.
02 · The relationship with ACVIS
An educational purpose and a way to examine progress
- SERAS
- Provides a humanistic orientation and a development program connecting values, attitudes, knowledge and action.
- ACVIS
- Is an educational platform organized around the competencies a person seeks to develop and demonstrate. It connects learning, criteria, conditions, evidence and documented decisions.
Within this proposal, ACVIS structures the journey and makes the relationship between intended learning, observed evidence and the resulting conclusion open to review. SERAS gives that journey its meaning in terms of human development.
ACVIS also encompasses personal and institutional pathways beyond SERAS. Participating in ACVIS does not necessarily mean joining the SERAS program.
03 · The three phases
Three connected phases, with quality and validation throughout
Educational quality, structuring and validation
From entry, the proposal calls for defined purposes, an initial diagnosis, responsibilities, criteria and ways to record progress. This function accompanies the whole process: it does not end when the next phase begins.
Values, attitudes and critical awareness
Reflective work addresses identity, emotional and ethical development, decisions, and understanding the social, cultural, economic and political environment. It aims to help people recognize influences and act with greater autonomy.
Knowledge, competencies and action
Academic, technical or occupational learning develops through study and practice. Participants are expected to apply and explain it, gathering evidence that supports assessment of what they can do and under which conditions.
The sequence should suit each participant's starting point and purpose. A diagnosis guides support and activities; on its own, it does not justify exclusion or a premature conclusion about someone's capacity.
04 · How learning happens
Reflection, support and purposeful practice
The conceptual methodology combines reflective reading, individual and group activities, dialogue, debate and application to concrete situations. It envisages guides for participants, tutors, families and institutions, with responsibilities suited to the context.
The book Y Serás… ¿Otro Ladrillo en la Pared? is part of the program's reflective and human-development foundations. Materials and activities connect to a learning pathway, support and progress review.
Freedom to learn, clear conditions for demonstration
A person can learn with the artificial intelligence they freely choose to work with, alongside teachers, books and other resources. When assessing a competency, permitted support and conditions must be defined so the evidence can be interpreted correctly.
The support used is part of the assessment context. Its presence does not automatically invalidate learning; a good final product alone is also insufficient to demonstrate personal understanding.
05 · Pathways and progress
Defined proposals that adapt to each person
The document envisages pathways such as industrial apprenticeship, trades and entrepreneurship, and pre-university preparation. These are program development directions whose implementation requires materials, support, criteria and concrete conditions.
The proposed journey begins with a person's goal: identify what they want to develop, understand their starting point, agree on a pathway, practise, gather evidence and review the results. A conclusion may support a next step or identify what needs further development.
Validation always has a scope: a defined competency, explicit criteria and evidence sufficient for the decision. It is not a general endorsement of everything a person knows and does not guarantee recognition by every institution.
06 · Status and scope
What the framework proposes and what remains to be demonstrated
SERAS has a defined conceptual architecture and is being adapted to ACVIS requirements. Pilots are the next setting for observing outcomes, gathering participants' experiences and refining implementation.
ACVIS has a functioning prototype and internal tests in specific cases. Those records support examination of its operation under the conditions tested. General educational effectiveness and social impact require additional external evidence.
The document uses educational quality management as a reference for responsibilities, monitoring and continual improvement. References to standards express a direction of work; they do not establish ISO certification of SERAS or ACVIS.
Impact is a hypothesis to evaluate
Greater autonomy, better opportunities and recognition of learning are intended outcomes. Treating them as achievements requires evaluation criteria, follow-up and evidence from participants and institutions.
